Secret Pals and Gift Exchanges
Secret Pals is a program for the exchange of themed gift/coupon boxes.

Please see post #2 above for rules that apply to all trading forums.

Anyone may "Host" and organize a Secret Pal or Gift Exchange.


The rules for the Secret Pal forum are not all inclusive. Each round of secret pals have additional rules and guidelines set up by the host of the exchange.
Any rules set forth by the host are to be upheld by any member that joins the secret pal or gift exchange.

All gifts that are sent must be in new condition, unless otherwise stated in the guidelines for the swap you wish to participate in.

Items that are permitted to be included in Secret Pals or Gift exchanges (Subject to terms set forth by your host):


To host a secret pal exchange you must:

• Be a member for 6 months
• Have 100% iTrader feedback Score
• Have successfully completed 20 Trades with no negative itrader feedback

Secret Pals and Gift Exchanges are a higher outlay of money for each person that joins and you should not join if you cannot afford to spend the money for the gifts and/or shipping. If an emergency situation comes up where you are not able to send your package it is YOUR responsibility to notify your host of any delays.


To participate in a secret pal exchange you must:

• Be a member for 30 days
• Have 95% iTrader feedback Score
• Have successfully completed 20 Trades with no negative iTrader feedback

Moderators reserve the right to limit how many swaps a member may participate in at any one time.

Members that fail to meet any rules and or guidelines of the secret pal forum and/or swap that they previously participated in may be asked to send a picture pre-ship of any gifts for exchanges they may wish to join in the future.

Members that have had issues mailing their packages on/before the agreed upon date may be subject to having the packages due to be sent to them held from shipment until it is verified that they have mailed their package.

Mailing instructions:

The sender is to pm the host with the delivery confirmation number of the package by the designated mail date.

If the number is not received by that date, the sender will receive a reminder pm from one of the secret pal mods within 24 hours of the send date.

The sender, has 48 hours to respond to this pm. No response could lead to a full blocking from the trading forums at the Secret Pal mod’s discretion. Trading privileges will be reinstated once the delivery confirmation number is received.

If a package remains unmailed by 14 days after the agreed upon mail date, bad trader proceedings will go into effect.



Failure to mail your package to your pal or agreed upon recipient is subject to:

1. Be listed on the Bad Trader List
2. Receive negative iTrader Feedback
3. Be banned from Secret Pal Exchanges

Moderators of the Secret Pal forums reserve the right to refuse any member from participating at their discrection.

Please read all secret pal or gift exchange threads carefully as this is where you will find the rules and conditions of joining. By sending your info to the host you are agreeing to these rules as well as the rules set forth by your host.

Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) Giveaways
This forum is for giving away items and asking for nothing in return.

Please see post #2 above for rules that apply to all trading forums.

RAOKs are Random Acts of Kindness on the part of the sender. They should be without any sort of obligation to the recipient, including postage.

Members can not request Random Acts Of Kindness in this forum. This is a forum for members to make offers only.

Vote for me based raok's where you want to offer a RAOK to members who vote for some type of contest you may be entered in, do have to have mod approval prior to posting. Because this is asking for something in return, please understand if we ask you to post it elsewhere.

If you have coupons or other items to give away and would like to be reimbursed for postage, please post these in the Current or Expired Coupons forum with an appropriate title. EX: 200+ Coupon potluck for postage only!



You can give away your RAOKs in a number of ways-- it's up to you.

• You can just PM a person for their mailing information.
• You may just say "First PM gets it."
• You may also have some sort of contest or guessing game, with the correct answer receiving the RAOK.
• Another possibility is a drawing where people post in the thread, their names are tossed in a hat, and the one selected is the winner of the RAOK.

If you are the recipient of a RAOK, it is considered courteous to leave feedback for the sender. Identify it as a trade, and say something like "Thanks for the RAOK!" in the comments.

RAOKs are fun to receive! If you get one, consider paying it forward to someone else so that they have the fun of a little something in the mail.

All posts in the Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) Giveaways Forum will be purged from the system by a Super moderator, the head moderator of the trading forums or the forum moderator after the thread has been inactive for two months.

Agree and Join to gain access to trading forums

In order to gain access to post in the trading forum you must agree that you have read these rules for these forums.




Once you have read the above rules click here to join the Trader In Training Group and follow these instructions:

1. On this page you will find a box that is titled: "The following groups are available for you to join"
2. You will see one of these groups titled "Trader In Training Group" and a check box to join the group.
3. Check off that box to join the group and click the button "Join Group"
4. Now you will be taken to a page that says "Request to Join Group: Trader"
5. In the box that says "Please state your reason for this request" Type in the words I agree. Example

   I Agree

6. Click "Send Request"

Once you have been a trader in training for 30 days, and have received 5 positive feedbacks, you are able to become a member of the trader user group. This allows you to host an auction, bid on auctions, ride a coupon train or join a secret pal exchange.


By submitting your request to join the Trader in Training group you are agreeing that you have read the rules of these forums, and will abide by them.

Posting Rule


All trading type posts are to be made in the trading forums only. While we appreciate everyone's efforts in wanting to trade for new coupon and rebate finds and deals, the store and deal forums are not intended to be places for trades.

Please be aware that all trades must be conducted in the trading forums, and all correspondence must be made via private message or email. Any trading messages left as a visitor message will be subject to deletion without further notification.

If you have new coupons, forms or hot coupons to share, please post them in the appropriate trading forum. If you need coupons or forms, this applies as well. Please post in the trader forums.

Posts violating this, will be deleted or edited without further notice and are also subject to the warning and infraction system effective immediately.

Hotcouponworld, as part of it's upgrade to a newer version of our forum software, has enabled Social Groups. These groups are available as a way to connect members by areas of interest (kids, scrapbooking, etc) or by geographic area or by just about anyway people want to be connected.

We have decided to allow trading to happen within your social groups with the following caveat.....

If you make a trade with a member who has not read the rules of HCW trading and joined the trader group, if the trade goes bad, you won't have any recourse for the trade like you would if you were trading with a member who had joined the trader group. Specifically, your trade made with a member in your group will not be mediated by our bad trader mod, and you won't be able to leave negative feedback through the Itrader system.

To keep your trades supported, if a member of your social group wants to trade with you, please encourage that member to join the trader group before you make trades with them. Heidi and I have also decided that this same philosophy will now apply to trades made in Flash Chat as well.

We want our members to enjoy the social networking features of the site, and we certainly want you to make the best trades possible. But we still want trading to be on the up and up for people and we want to make sure our traders have the benefits of the feedback systems here on the board.

Additionally, the same rules apply to trades made anywhere on the board if people are scamming the site by putting fradulent coupons into the trading pool - those members will be banned.

Again, if you choose this option, do make sure the people you're trading with have the trader bubble and keep your interests in making positive trades supported. And enjoy the new social groups!

The following changes to the trading forum rules go into effect immediately.

Members may not trade:

Expired store coupons (unless it is company policy for all stores to accept them).

Members are still able to trade expired mfr catalina coupons as long as all coupon info including store logos is disclosed.

Effective immediately, in the Auction forum, If a seller does not declare a winner or contact the winning bidder and does not reply to the moderator regarding the sold auction the moderator will file a bad trade report.

Effective Immediately in the Classified forum:

Members are not able to edit their posts in the forum. Updates can be made via reply or moderator edit.

Effective 5/4/09 the following updates are being added to the trading rules. These rules apply to each of the trading forums.

Members are allowed to make trade posts for 2 each of all valid internet printable coupons. This is not per forum, this is per member.
This does not include past trades. Ex. if you traded 2 of a specific internet printed coupon last week in the trading forum, you are able to trade 2 now under the new rule.

You can trade only actual coupons in hand. If you have a coupon received in email or any other type of electronic coupon,you can not trade the link. You must print the coupon and mail it, this applies to all trading forums including Auctions.

There is now a trading archive forum. It is listed with the trading forums.
This gives trading members one more way to be able to research the member you are trading with.
